In order to move a muscle, the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is required, which takes over the communication between the nerve ending and the muscle at the synaptic cleft. The more acetylcholine reaches the muscle, the more it contracts. One of the most well-known consequences is the so-called frown line above the nose and between the eyes or forehead wrinkles.
The hexapetide we use in TRICOMPLEX blocks part of the release of acetylcholine. The peptide complex contained in Timeshift, although applied topically, works against muscle-induced expression wrinkles and furrows in a similar manner to Botulinum Toxin (Botox) and represents a safe, pharmaceutical-grade alternative. A reduction in muscle contraction-induced wrinkles by up to 32 % after 28 days of use could be demonstrated in vivo; a significant reduction in wrinkle depth can be measured after just 15 days of use.
Botulinum toxin paralyzes muscles by selectively blocking acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter that signals muscle contraction. The timeshift peptide complex also shows high inhibitory potential in in vitro studies. The peptides used also target this mechanism of action and reduce the transmission of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
